TekSavvy Solutions, Inc. Mail Server upgrade
Wednesday September 30, 2009 - 10:00AM
Early this morning we started performing upgrades to our core mail server infrastructure to increase capacity and scalability looking forward.
The upgrade is still on going as the file copy process is taking longer then originally anticipated due to the shear volume of files/emails. In order for this process to complete successfully we had to disable the mail system preventing all action. All email messages coming in are being stored for later delivery on our backup mail server.
We’ve also restored the ability to send email via an alternate outgoing mail server.
Please note that our Network Operations Center is monitoring the situation and doing everything in their power to ensure this transition is completed as swiftly as possible..
We apologize for the delay and appreciate your continued patronage.
Thank you

Dear Valued Customer,
We are writing to you today as many activities are underway to shape/reshape Internet use as you all know it. Over the last year some of you have been made aware and/or have seen activities on throttling in the news or in your daily lives. Another proceeding relating to the Internet in Canada required Telecom providers (Bell/Telus/etc.) to provide ISPs with wholesale service speeds that match those that they offer to their own retail customers.
Specifically, Bell has been directed by the CRTC to provide matching speeds which would allow us all to have more flexibility in our day to day online requirements. Instead of adhering to these directives, Bell decided to take this issue to the federal Cabinet and at the same time file a tariff application with the CRTC proposing to introduce Usage Based Billing (UBB) on its wholesale customer accounts.
What does this mean for you, the consumer?
Bell provides TekSavvy with last mile, wholesale DSL access services, which TekSavvy uses to provide you with your Internet access. If Bell were to be allowed to introduce UBB on this service, a cap of 60GB would be imposed on all of its users, with very heavy penalties per Gigabyte afterwards (multiple times more than our current per Gigabyte rate of $0.25/GB on overages). This would inherently all but remove Unlimited internet services in Ontario/Quebec and potentially cause large increases in internet costs from month to month.
If you'd like to make your comments/concerns known about what Bell is attempting to do, please do so here:
http://support.crtc.gc.ca/crtcsubmissionmu/forms/Telecom.aspx?lang=e
Select the word "Tariff" from the drop down list.
Add the following in Subject Line "File Number # 8740-B2-200904989 - Bell Canada - TN 7181" and make your thoughts known!
The deadline for filing your comments is today at midnight, so hurry!
Conficker worm
Hey Gang,
We will be running scans to try and see if anything can be found over our network on this. Trying to be proactive about this so that no one gets damaged in any way.
It is believed the virus/worm will be active in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Our network administrator will be rolling through anywhere he thinks might be an issue so please do not be alarmed if you see anything from the speedtest server (where we will be running the scan from), so speedtest.teksavvy.com.

CRTC Ruling Opposes Consumer Interests
Today’s decision is disappointing because it delays, again, consideration of an issue that the
overwhelming majority of Canadians want the CRTC to take a positive and decisive stand on
today... not in a year from now.
TekSavvy CEO Rocky Gaudrault says, "The Commission could have rendered a decision that
favours consumers and competition. Instead, the decision favours the incumbents and shows
just how out of touch the Commission is with the needs and interests of consumers."
We stay committed to our ongoing efforts protesting degraded quality of bandwidth and fighting
for internet rights. We firmly believe the current state of affairs is not acceptable and change
must happen now to encourage healthy competition.
TekSavvy Solutions is an Incorporated Company in operation for over 10 years. TekSavvy
differentiates itself from competitors through its business processes, automation and customer
care-embracing change to constantly improve.

Our 5th AGAS coming in from Bell is currently down. This will create exess load on the other 4 connections. Clients will experience slow speeds and timeouts until the issue is resolved. We have already contacted Bell on this issue and we are working with them to resolve it.
As of 3:10PM today, this issue has been resolved.
